Ocean Beach

in San Francisco

is a chill and smell in the air,

a break from the heat 

to the East.

Waters of many hues,

a sky painted by atmospherics

and clouds, and setting sun,

and emotions run wild.

There are bars and restaurants

and fire pits to gather, but 

Sometimes a place

to be thankfully alone, 

and to look at the Horizon

and be reminded 

that things are different out there

so they can be different here

and maybe better also!

the wild waters of the Pacific

and to the South

and to the Sea of Cortez

Literary and scientific 

history happened out there

In their search

to better know and understand

our wild marine neighbors,

and our place in

the bigness of it all.
