Sen-Pei Hsia
Sen-Pei Hsia is a born-and-raised Chinese American, disabled New Yorker, poet, video artist, designer and producer whose creative roots reach back to the downtown arts scene of the 1990s. As a teenage runaway, she lived at Smalls Jazz Club in Greenwich Village while attending Stuyvesant High School, writing among the musicians, artists, and writers of the city’s cultural underground. She later joined the community surrounding A Gathering of the Tribes, where poetry, jazz, visual art, and experimentation converged. Returning to poetry decades later, Hsia draws on her experiences exploring memory, survival, art, life, death and the city that raised her.
