A Gathering of the Tribes, a non-profit arts and culture organization in the Lower East Side that has been dedicated to excellence in the arts from the perspective of diversity since 1991, seeks interns in the following areas:
MAGAZINE
Tribes seeks interns with an interest in poetry and literature to:
- Work with professional editors to solicit and evaluate works for Tribes Magazine #15
- Market and promote Tribes #15
- Assist the final edits of Tribes #14 and bringing it to closure

GALLERY / SALON
Tribes seeks interns with an interest in the visual arts to:
- Work with professional curators to solicit and evaluate works by potential artists
- Classify and catalog our inventory of images
- Assist in putting up and breaking down exhibitions
- Promote current exhibitions
- Assist in planning gallery receptions

This is a fantastic opportunity for those interested in these fields to get first hand experience at a non-profit organization that has been operating for more than twenty-years. A Gathering of the Tribes is a unique organization in that it maintains the true spirit of salon spaces that were ever-present in the heydays of NYC’s artistic revolution, but continue to dwindle due to market pressures. The executive director, Steve Cannon, is a retired blind professor of humanities, and continues to be an active pillar in the artistic community of NYC.
