COME HEAR! FEATURED AUTHORS,
May 9, 2026
The New York Rainbow Book Fair, now in its 14th year, is the largest LGBTQIA+ literary event in the United States bringing together more than 100 authors, artists, publishers, and literary organizations that represent the full spectrum of queer storytelling. The fair offers a vibrant space for diverse voices and narratives, from indie zines and poetry to scholarly works and graphic novels.
Founded in 2001 by Nathaniel Siegel and Regie Cabico for the Rainbow Book Fair, Come Hear! is a queer reading series that has been hosted by The LGBT Center since 2008. Since 2024, A Gathering of the Tribes has produced the Come Hear! marathon reading series.
This year, founders Nathaniel Siegel and Regie Cabico were joined by co-curators Drew Pisarra and Irene Villaseñor. On May 9, 2026 the event featured more than 30 authors who shared original poetry and prose, with six to eight writers reading each hour throughout the day.

FALL OF FREEDOM ‘26 MIXTAPE,
Oct 4 - 6, 2026
For the second consecutive year, A Gathering of the Tribes stood in solidarity with artists nationwide, answering Fall of Freedom’s call to unite on October 2nd, 3rd, + 4th in creative resistance, countering fascist repression and the censorship of free expression.
Our democracy is under attack. Dissent is criminalized. Institutions and media are being reshaped into instruments of propaganda. The erosion of our civil liberties feels endless, while human rights are continuously violated. Governance is no longer by and for the people, but increasingly serves to further enrich those in power. That is why, in this moment, art matters more than ever.
Our online exhibition, “Fall of Freedom October ’26 MIXTAPE,” featured a new volume of literary and visual works released each day. Each volume was carefully curated and sequenced , as was the exhibition as a whole, creating an evolving stream of work throughout the three-day call to action.
